I wanted to share something I witnessed recently that truly stood out to me. One of our patients brought in pizza and mentioned they wanted to enjoy a piece with us. It was an extremely busy day. Instead of brushing it off or simply thanking him, Jen took the time to sit with the patient and share a slice.
Mobility is a challenge for him. Jen pulled up a recliner and table tray near the nurses' station and sat with him. It may seem like a small gesture, but moments like that make a meaningful difference. You, Jen, helped create a sense of connection and normalcy for someone who really needed it, especially since he recently lost his wife.
You took the extra time to show kindness, compassion, and the kind of patient-centered care that often goes unnoticed but really matters deeply. This is everything our mission stands for. Thank you Jen for going above and beyond it for reminding all of us how powerful simple acts of kindness can be.
Your willingness to meet the patient where they are and share a moment with them reflects the very best of what nursing is about. I believe in my heart that this was the best gift of time this man had since his wife had just passed.
