We came into hospital as travelers from Minneapolis to Arizona. My husband collapsed at a gas pump in Missouri. He was taken to an emergency hospital there, where his heart stopped twice, once for 15 seconds. Since it was raining, he couldn't transfer by helicopter. We had an hour and a half drive to NKC Hospital. Jen was the night nurse in the CICU. She immediately took charge of his case. She imparted a sense of compassionate concern for our unique situation.
Twice that evening he coded requiring CPR. She and her staff stabilized him. She immediately arranged for an emergency temporary pacemaker. All through this, she remained in control and very comforting.
She has been our night nurse for three nights in a row. He had a permanent pacemaker placed two days later. We are grateful for her professional attention and her comforting manner.
