I met Jennifer when I was a new cancer patient; and I was frazzled, nervous, somewhat overwhelmed, and feeling very lost in your huge hospital complex with the many, many, strangers walking around. I was scared, to say the least, but I almost immediately felt calmer and more relaxed with her. And she went above and beyond what I expected or even dared to hope for.

When she was with me during one of my doctor’s visits, and I complained about itching, she bought me a bottle of Calamine lotion and quickly and quietly gave it to me, refusing any payment. When I was confused about when and how often I was to take two separate medications (one with two strengths) she drew up a large, oversized chart with all the directions accurately and simply explained. This clarified things for me and was an unexpected kindness. I felt as if I had made a new friend, always on my side plus, of course, having access to her extensive medical expertise and knowledge. She told me that I could call her anytime with questions or problems I might come across and she meant it. In her own quiet and respectful way she took care of situations and decisions more efficiently than a drill sergeant, and with more grace and ease than a nun. She helped to make a scary situation far less so. She is a lovely, lovely lady.
