She is a trusted mentor and coach who has played a meaningful role in developing future leaders. From the beginning of my leadership journey, she made herself available as a resource, encouraged growth, and provided thoughtful guidance through challenges. She does not simply give answers; she teaches, encourages critical thinking, and helps others view situations from multiple perspectives.

Her leadership style is described by teammates as leading by example, communicating clearly, being fair and consistent, supporting others, encouraging growth, and demonstrating trustworthiness and compassion. She provides stability for her team and advocates for their needs while keeping patients at the center of every decision.

She demonstrates selfless leadership, often putting the needs of the organization, patients, and team before herself. One clear example of this was when she came in during a night shift to take a patient assignment while numerous patients were being held in the Emergency Department, helping ensure patients received timely care across both settings. She is also present during critical moments, including codes and rapids, and never hesitates to step in when asked or needed.

She fosters a culture of respect, accountability, teamwork, and trust. She actively listens, communicates expectations and organizational goals with transparency, collaborates with others to solve problems, and connects accountability back to the shared purpose of patient safety. Her approachable and steady presence helps staff feel supported during difficult situations, while her encouragement and recognition make teammates feel appreciated for their contributions.

Because of her leadership, the team is stronger, more resilient, and deeply committed to excellence in patient care. She inspires professional growth while maintaining the compassion at the heart of nursing. She is an outstanding example of a nurse leader and is truly deserving of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
