Jen showed tremendous compassion and kindness while caring for my dad. I guess the thing that stuck with me the most is how she was with Dad when he was making his decision on moving forward with treatment or transitioning toward hospice. The doctors were great at explaining the facts, but she got down to his level at the bedside and explained it to him in terms he would understand. She showed so much compassion after Dad made his decision, both for him and for his entire family. All the nurses were great, but we were blessed she was there on that day. She was an advocate, a resource, and a kind soul. She told Dad she remembered him from previous visits as she was his virtual nurse during those visits. Even after her shift, she called to check on him and would ask other nurses to go get him a Coke out of the pop machine because he isn't a Pepsi fan, which is what they have on the floor. She was just awesome, and we were lucky to have her taking care of Dad. Every interaction with her showed that she truly cared about her job and her patients.
