Our daughter was a patient in the ICU. She was addicted to opioids and overdosed early in the morning and sadly was declared brain dead days later. From the moment she arrived at the hospital and then ICU, we would ensure that the medical staff knew who she was a person and that she was so much more than her addiction. Jennifer listened to us, cried with us, prayed with us and showed our daughter the most compassionate care we could have hoped for.
Jennifer always talked to her and explained whatever it was that she needed to do while caring for her. Under these horrible circumstances, Jennifer gave us great comfort by listening to us when we needed to talk or vent, answer any questions that we had, and in our opinion went above and above everything we asked for. We cannot imagine how difficult this job is and know that it takes a very special person to do this job. Jennifer is just that person and it was clear to see that she loves her job even though there is not always a happy ending. Although we are completely devastated and heartbroken, Jennifer made this unbearable situation a little better and gave us hope that there are kind, compassionate nurses who truly care about their patients like our daughter.
