The patient had a procedure and blood loss and was in need of strong medication. A couple of nights ago, the patient completely freaked out due to medication causing hallucinations. A nurse, Jennifer Rom, came right away and calmed her down. This nurse gently talked to the patient and at the same time tried to understand what the patient was feeling. Jennifer then brought in the doctor for an immediate consult. She had already updated the doctor with what she had learned from talking to patient. This helped a lot in having a focused diagnosis that resulted in medication change. Since then, there have been no more episodes like this. The patient is still scared of the hallucinations, so we are grateful that Jennifer quickly responded and acted.
