I graduated from Wright State University, in Dayton OH, in 2000 with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. I was accepted into and graduated from the Critical Care Fellowship at The Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio. I worked in both the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit from 2000-2003, I then took a contingent position in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Grant Medical Center in Columbus OH, while I transitioned full time into Labor and Delivery nursing at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus OH. I remained full time at Riverside in L&D until 2009 when I was hired as an adjunct clinical professor for Chamberlain College of Nursing. I taught Critical Care, Medical Surgical and Maternal-Child clinical for Chamberlain while earning my Master?s of Nursing Education degree, I graduated with an MSN E.d. in October of 2011 from Chamberlain College of Nursing. I then moved into the classroom and remain both a didactic and clinical educator for many different courses on the Columbus Campus. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Chamberlain with a focus on Nursing Leadership. I serve as a campus counselor for Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, as chair of the Faculty Forum, and Faculty co-advisor for the Student Nursing Association. I developed ward-type simulation scenarios that are utilized across the medical surgical courses in both the Associate?s degree and Bachelor?s degree programs on the Columbus campus and was accepted to present internationally on these simulations in June of 2014 at the INACSL conference. I have 4 children: Emily 20, Nathan 18, Cameron 15, and Caleb 11 and my husband of 21 years Mike. My heart in nursing is for education. I get tremendous joy and fulfillment being a part of the creation of new nurses. I feel honored that I get to work with students every day, and despite the many challenges I face as an educator, there is nothing more rewarding then being a part of nursing education.
