October 2023 Honoree
Jennifer S Barrett, RN
For the Women's Specialty Clinics- Jennifer continues to make improvements to help clinic workflow. She advocates for patient safety by making sure all the physicians utilize Cerner prescribing to comply with our policy. She cross-trained several of us to cover for vacations, time off, and illness. This provides consistent coverage and ensures that we have a knowledgeable, consistent team of caregivers. Jennifer has imposed patient scheduling guidelines to decrease over time and promote a safe, sustainable workflow.
For the Infusion Center- Jennifer always exhibits a happy, positive, and cheerful demeanor. We used to have trouble getting people to apply to the infusion center, we now have a waiting list! She has decluttered and organized the work environment. She has organized a private lounge for the staff to have a safe space. She always exhibits unique, thoughtful problem-solving. She has set staffing guidelines to reduce staff burnout and improve safety. She has standardized patient scheduling to increase staff satisfaction and improve safety, and I have to say she's honestly one of the best nurse managers I've had in 41 years.
