Jennifer demonstrates amazing nursing care to all of her patients. On this particular shift, Jennifer was taking care of a very sick patient who was steadily declining. She was quick to try to save this patient, but overall, we were unable to do so in the end. The parents of the baby were Spanish-speaking, and the mother, even though she was struggling to understand, knew that her baby had passed away. The team quickly and respectfully cleaned the baby up for Mom when she arrived. Jennifer wrapped the baby up and took it to the mom, who was on her knees on the floor. She got down on the floor with that mom and comforted her. She has had a knee replacement but that did not let her stop her from providing comfort and support to these parents. She moved the room to tears with how she cared so deeply for this patient population and the parents. She is always professional, but even more so, she is always compassionate. She is a joy to work with and learn from. She deserves more than a DAISY for everything she has given to these babies over the years, but this is just one way we can thank her for showing us what it truly means to be a nurse and care for this very sick patient population.
