I was a patient recently on 3 South. I suffer from Cellulitis in both legs and was there due to extreme swelling and pain in both legs as well as extremely high blood pressure and high blood sugars. My nurse, Jennifer, made a major difference in my recovery due to her ability to remain calm, act quickly, and perform her duties without hesitation. To most, this seems like a normal routine for a nurse, but to me, it was simply amazing. I was having problems with my blood sugar fluctuating and I was feeling very out of sorts. Jennifer had come into my room saying she felt there was something wrong and wanted to check my blood sugar. Upon checking, my sugar level had fallen to 68, acting quickly, she notified the doctor and got me some juice. Between her quick actions and getting a glucose IV started, my blood sugar level returned to normal. Her constant care was also a factor in a major incident that I had while I was there. My blood sugar fell to 40, and my blood pressure also went to 72/40. Her actions in helping the doctors and other nurses truly helped save me. Her skills and devotion to her profession truly shone that day! She is a fine example of what a nurse should be and deserves to be recognized as one of the best. Jennifer truly stood out as an exceptional nurse that day by going above and beyond what I would consider her normal duties.
