My husband rushed me to the hospital due to severe blood loss. I was 5 1/2 weeks away from our daughter's due date. I had been in and out of the hospital during pregnancy. Jen Strope had been my nurse on a few visits. Nurse Strope happened to be the first person to evaluate me when I had gotten in. Once she realized how serious my situation was, she moved so quickly. She brought more nurses in and she sat with my husband and was calm. She walked us through what was happening and what to expect. I was a mess and asked what the worst possible outcome was. The other nurses said you may not make it out. Jennifer looked at both of us and explained that they would do everything they could to make sure that wouldn't happen. I was hyperventilating repeatedly. They kept putting the mask over my face and I would move it and say that I can't breathe. Jennifer looks over at me and says, "I will hold this on your face". Then I remember her grabbing my hand and holding onto it. She kept telling me how it will be ok. I may not have seen her after my daughter was born, but she made a world of difference in my state of mind, as well as, making me feel safe. I plan on finishing my degree and starting nursing school. She has given me the opportunity to realize where and what I want to do. Thank you, so much, for who you are and what you did for me and my family.
