I was almost given medication that I was allergic to and Jen was beyond amazing. She did everything she could to comfort not only me but my family as well. She was truly the best nurse giving the best care I have ever received. She kindly but firmly told me that I should take my new medicine because the alternative would be terrible. She convinced me.

Jen Sundstrom, RN, is a special presence in Southview Medical Center. I have been in the hospital only a number of times in my nine decades of life and Jen made this latest experience as easy as possible. My condition was a red flag for my health and Jen counseled me on what I can do to prevent another episode. She eased my concerns and anxiety. Her expertise is evident in her tasks and counsel, and her timing is perfect when she kept me up to date and let me know what was going to happen next. What is surely a sign of high competence is that Jen makes it seem so easy to do what she does. But we all know that is not true, that to do your job seamlessly and with high professionalism, you must make deep efforts to achieve ever more, always improving and excelling, and caring. For these reasons as for her lovely smile, I gladly nominate Jen for The DAISY Award.

Last year my mother had an extended stay at Southview. During that time mom experienced many nurses and the one that stood out the most was Jen for her positive attitude and sense of humor in caring for my mom. I always knew my mom was in good hands when Jen was on duty. This visit we have re-experienced Jen's tender care. In today's world it's nice to know that people like Jen still exist.
