Jennifer is a nurse in the Women's Pavilion at Coastal Carolina Hospital and the care she provided to the parents of a newborn gave them confidence that they had little to worry about during their hospital stay. Their accolades of Jennifer were the reasons she was selected to receive the DAISY Award for Nurses during a recent ceremony at Coastal.
Some nurses like to keep delivering care, even when their work shift is over, and that's what Jennifer did.
Our Administration received a letter from the patient's husband thanking Jennifer for staying beyond her shift to care for his wife. As he explained in his letter to her:
"The magic moment happened in the OR more than 30 minutes after the end of your shift. During my wife's C-Section, you were asked what you were still doing there (well past the end of your shift); your response was priceless - 'she is my patient'. The way you uttered these four words gave me goose bumps. So I turned around and saw a caring, concerned, and worried face. I was so relieved, calmed down, and became more confident in the team (emotionally). Since then, when I think of excellence in nursing, I think Jennifer Talley. To me, you've become the face of the ideal nurse, the representation of excellence in nursing."
