She was patient, kind, empathetic, smart, resourceful, and available (mentally, physically, and emotionally).
One early morning on a weekend, my 81 yr old aunt had an acute event. My 85 yr old uncle took her to PRMC by car. She was taken to OR, where she had a 5 1/2 hour surgery. The doctor and the OR staff worked long and hard to save her life. They were amazing. What followed was a long 2 week stay in the ICU. Jennifer was one of her incredible nurses. I use that word because no other word describes Jennifer. She was patient, kind, empathetic, smart, resourceful, and available (mentally, physically, and emotionally). She was happy, funny, and serious when she needed to be, a terrific teacher, explaining to my family the present and what might be expected in the long term. She truly made PRMC shine. My aunt nearly died in the ICU when many days went by, and she did begin to come around; Jennifer was right there, same as before, kind, gentle, and all over the many drips and treatments and care an elderly, critically ill patient deserves. When my aunt was able to move to the medical floor, Jennifer came to check on her there as we learned new faces and a new routine; what a beautiful sight to see someone we already trusted appear at the door. Please thank her for us.
