The patient was admitted in June 2023 due to septic shock and the debridement of an infected wound, and the care of this patient transitioned between different doctors; the lack of a clear plan led to this patient losing his hope and courage and refusing treatment. It was this nurse leader who provided the support, wisdom, patience, and compassion that this patient desperately needed. Her passion encouraged and influenced this patient to manage the wound, agree to surgical intervention, and ultimately progress toward recovery. The nurse continued to support the patient until his discharge. For her extraordinary care and leadership, which profoundly impacted the life of this patient, she is truly deserving of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
