This was the first time the patient was able to see and hold her baby. She was ECSTATIC and so grateful that Jenny was able to do this for her.
I am an RN in labor and delivery. I had a patient several times and on my third time taking care of her, she had to have an urgent c-section. She was 2 days post-surgery and had been unable to see her 30-week-old baby. I called Jenny to get an update and to inquire if she could bring the patient pictures of her baby. Jenny made a special effort to come to the PICU and took the patient’s phone to take pictures. I pulled Jenny aside once she left the room and gave her an overview what the patient had been through along with the struggles of getting her to NICU to see her baby. Jenny mentioned that she would see what she could do to facilitate this mom to see and visit her baby. When she brought the patient’s phone back, she relayed to me that the NICU team had approved the baby coming to the patient’s room in an isolette and she would work out all the logistics. We decided to keep it a surprise for the patient. A brief time later, Jenny coordinated the visit; and arrived back with the baby. This was the first time the patient was able to see and hold her baby. She was ECSTATIC and so grateful that Jenny was able to do this for her. It gave the patient a renewed effort to continue to heal and make progress. Thank you for going the extra mile in making a difference for not only this patient but all your patients.
