When my 87-year-old mom came for her vaccination, Jenny made it a point to keep very close to her side while she waited. My mom commented on how sweet and attentive Jenny was.
Jenny is our Employee Health Nurse here at Silverton Hospital. During the past year and a half, I feel she has gone above and beyond to help us feel protected and help us to navigate the COVID pandemic.
When the vaccines became available to employees last December, she managed our onsite vaccine clinic. Even the normal workload that this entailed would be a lot of extra work for her, but she took it a few steps beyond.
She went out of her way to ensure no doses were wasted. She asked all of us working in the clinic for a list of high-risk family members and friends. She would then call those people and have them come in to get their vaccine if she had extra doses that day. She did this extra step every single day the clinic was open, for months!
She was so attentive to the people getting vaccines in her clinic. She had her cart on wheels and she would roam the rows of chairs where people had to wait after vaccination. She would use the time to check up on them and to make an appointment for their second shot. When my 87-year-old mom came for her vaccination, Jenny made it a point to keep very close to her side while she waited. My mom commented on how sweet and attentive Jenny was.
Now with the vaccines becoming a requirement for all employees, Jenny is once again in the hot seat. Her phone is ringing off the hook with concerned employees and their questions. She is also balancing the already high workload of monitoring employees with symptoms.
And yet, every time I see her, she has a warm smile on her face and takes the time to visit and check how I am doing! She is such a great asset to all of us here at LSH! We are so blessed to have her and to have had her support during this pandemic.

Jenny did some amazing quick setup of Silverton COVID Vaccination Clinic. Assuring all doses were used (without waste), supporting each vaccination role to be ready for their shift, and creating and adjusting the vaccination clinic schedule based on the census to assure Silverton can fully serve with staff all the vaccination needs.
