Jenny Johnson 2023, RN, MedSurg-BC

Jenny exhibits compassion and care at the highest level. It is not uncommon to hear that Jenny has purchased simple yet necessary items for patients who have been sent to UMC from out of town or have limited resources. On this occasion, Jenny was caring for a patient who was from out of town and was being transferred back home via ambulance. The patient's significant other was at bedside and unable to ride home with the patient due to riding restrictions. Jenny worked with the social worker to find a rental car and the funds needed to get her home. On day of discharge the patient was sent home via ambulance and the young woman arrived at the airport to pick up her rental car. Even though payment had been secured for the vehicle rental car, the young woman was unable to rent the vehicle due to age and the absence of a credit card. She called the floor and talked to Jenny. Jenny arranged to drive the young woman herself to Abilene, which was halfway to her destination, where she could meet her family. This story exemplifies who Jenny is as a person and nurse. Jenny demonstrates the heart of a servant and the hands of a leader. It is an honor to work with Jenny.
