She makes us feel loved, appreciated, and secure. She makes us feel that we matter, even though she has hundreds of patients she is tending to.
For almost 18 months, my husband has been a patient of Dr. A, the most knowledgeable, kind, and caring doctor we have ever known. By his side, making things happen is Jenny! If you don't know, Jenny, you need to make the effort to do so! We all need a Jenny in our lives!!! We never know what kind of day she has had or what is going on in her world when we see her, but it doesn't matter to her! She is all about her patients! It's like she sees "hers," and she has tunnel vision! It's all about being there for them! She has been there so many times for my husband as well as for me, that we can't begin to count! In the beginning of our journey, it was so scary and we were so insecure! Who was there to answer any of our questions or take care of anything we needed? Jenny! It was not only what my husband needed, but me as well. I messaged her a jillion times with seemingly the smallest of things, feeling I was just being annoying! Whether I was or wasn't, Jenny always reassured me we were doing things right! She was there for us, to answer the questions and assist us along our journey. She sure has been our lifesaver throughout our journey, many many times!

Our recommendation for Jenny to receive this award is long overdue! For that, I am sorry! One particular instance involved us not being able to receive Home Health in our hometown in Kentucky. We had even gone to a Vanderbilt facility in town a little closer to our home and an employee wouldn't do what was ordered for my husband to have done. I don't know her reason, but she felt she wasn't allowed to, so she didn't. Who came to our rescue as soon as she found out what had happened? Jenny, from the Ingram Cancer Center! In a matter of hours, Jenny had things rolling. We were receiving phone calls from all different departments of Vanderbilt questioning us and apologizing to us. Though we never were upset or showed anger towards anyone, we were disappointed that services were refused to him, because we felt he definitely needed it! Jenny sensed there had been some type of miscommunication, and she stepped in and took care of us yet again! When she has a mission, she gets the job done. You don't have to wait, and she never has to be reminded! Jenny doesn't just do a job! She makes sure all jobs are done for "her" patients! Jenny doesn't know us personally, but she makes sure she seeks us out when she knows we are there! Today, she couldn't find us, and she tracked us down to make sure we were ok. Later, as she was talking with us about my husband's needs and offering if she could do anything at all for us, we mentioned we needed a refill. Jenny, without hesitation and without mentioning what she was doing, went out and called the pharmacy and ordered the refill, so that it would be ready when we were ready to leave. A little thing to some, but when you feel as tough as some of her patients, every effort is of the utmost importance and so appreciated! As soon as Dr. A puts in our orders, there's Jenny making it happen! That happened again today, too! Dr. A didn't have any appointments available for the day he wanted to see my husband, before he had surgery. Jenny got with the doctor and the appointment was set in a matter of minutes.

I could go on and on about Jenny and how good she is at her job. The one thing that really means the most is the fact that we can see her in the halls at a distance, and she makes eye contact, waves, smiles, heads toward us, and asks how things are going for him. She makes us feel like we are her family or close friends, and that she really does care about us and what we are going through. Honestly, I think that is really how she feels! It is definitely not an act! She doesn't have to do that, but obviously it's important to her that she does. She makes us feel loved, appreciated, and secure. She makes us feel that we matter, even though she has hundreds of patients she is tending to. She takes the time to message and has even made phone call well checks on my husband. Her reason...she and Dr. A are worried about him. No one, ever in our 62 years has ever done that for us! She is a blessing that we weren't expecting! A woman with dignity, professionalism, and the kindest, sincere, and caring heart you will ever meet! Jenny told us she moved to Nashville from Texas! What a blessing and an asset she is to Vanderbilt and its patients! Vanderbilt has numerous wonderful employees, but sweet Dr. A has been blessed with one of the best! He knows it as well! He says he just couldn't do it without her; that she is wonderful! Well, neither could we! We agree with him! They are team that is unmatched! A team that is there for the right reason! A team that wants to prolong life, but make that journey for their patients as comfortable as is humanly possible! Jenny deserves this award!
