The memories of her kindness toward us make us smile.
Jenny explained everything to J before doing anything with him even if it was something that had been done before. She spoke to him on his level, and found books for him to read that introduced him to Alaskan culture. She made such a positive impression on us, that even 30 days after submitting our DAISY award nomination J smiles thinking of her. While the specific things she did escape us, the memories of her kindness toward us make us smile. She went above and beyond every moment with us. She found a way for us to leave with the medication J needed for his eye when the hospital pharmacy refused our insurance because we had only been in Alaska for 14 days. She sat with my son outside while I got a car from the parking lot to pick him up when discharged. I was a wreck having to leave an 8-year-old by himself at the hospital door to bring the car around. She noticed we didn't have a booster seat and encouraged us to get one and told of us a program where we might be able to get one. Being so new to Alaska I didn't know anything about local resources. She never showed frustration with me, a very protective mother when I did not understand what and why of so many things going on in J’s care. She brought not only my son but myself water and ice more than once. She embodies compassion!
