My Uncle came to Jennifer’s floor for comfort care. He had been on dialysis for 18 years. Jennifer came in and expressed she was sorry for our situation and emphasized that she will help us through this difficult time. My uncle expressed that he was in pain. She provided medication, but unfortunately, he still had pain. She tried to get him an IV drip, but the doctor denied the request multiple times. The nurse advocated for my uncle, explaining he was on comfort care and eventfully received an order. As a family, we appreciate that she acknowledged our concerns as valid and viewed my uncle as a person. My uncle was in the hospital for 7 days and coded twice. Out of all the nurses, Jennifer will be the nurse we will remember.
