My husband was in the hospital for eight days post-surgery. I was by his side for 18 hours a day, every day. I saw many nurses come and go, day and night. Jen was the most professional, attentive, and meticulous nurse we had. Before she ever walked in the room, she read my husband’s chart and was informed of his complications. Jen asked him many in-depth questions - questions no one else had asked him in the seven previous days he was admitted. We often heard the same questions over and over, “how’s your pain? “how’s your nausea?” “Anything I can do for you?” Jen’s questions were far more in-depth, and she actually tried to get to the bottom of his issues. For example, Jen came in with a stethoscope and listened to my husband’s breathing. She then messaged the doctor about what she heard, made sure a chest X-ray was done, and got a Respiratory Therapist to his room for a breathing treatment. Next, Jen fixed my husband’s IV. When Jen was here, he was on day 7 of an IV that was started in the ER. Jen took the time to unwrap the mess, clean him up, and secure the IV. When we weren’t sure how to start introducing foods after being NPO, Jen offered helpful suggestions regarding what to order from meal services. I know my husband was not the most critically ill patient on the floor, but Jen prioritized the needs of all of her patients, and my husband received the best care from her during the entire stay!
