This was my first opportunity to share a case with Jenny. We provided end of life care to a woman who was admitted to hospice for pancreatic cancer with mets. The patient was on hospice for less than 10 days. Her journey was rapid, intense, and consistently changing as is often the case with this diagnosis. Most of the time with this diagnosis, the family has barely had the opportunity to absorb the diagnosis before they are faced with impending death. The family believes that if it wasn't for Jenny's guidance, support, and knowledge, this patient would not have been able to die peacefully in her own home, surrounded by her family and holding her son's hand.
Jenny intuitively picked up on the unsaid and informal functioning and rules of the family. She quickly established a beautiful rapport with each of them. This is not an easy task.
Jenny has gone out of her way, above and beyond, with her soothing presence and emotional healing and spiritual manner. Jenny met this family where they were without judgment and with complete support and acceptance. I am honored to have this opportunity to work with Jenny.
