...Jenny's nursing practice is thoughtful and reflective. She provides her patients with kindness and compassion as she cares for them in psychiatric crisis. She is gentle and empathic. She advocates for her patients who are in need and never gives up. She consistently seeks understanding of the individual and their struggle and finds avenues of support for them.

There are so many stories of how Jenny is that nurse deserving of the DAISY Award. One simple story is this. We have a patient, severely depressed and going through ECT. Jenny saw a need and made the extra effort (which she does with so many) to cut his hair and shave his beard that had grown so long that all others who tried to assist him had failed. The hair and beard trim were transformative. It was the first time I'd seen this patient smile. In that moment Jenny brought happiness' to a very sad and struggling man. This is what she does or tries to do with all her patients and their families. Just ask them!
