March 2022 Honoree
Jenny Wood, BSN, RN, CCRN
My son B was in the hospital for Halo traction and spinal surgery, which can be very scary of course. From the first day B met Jenny, he told us, “Jenny is my favorite nurse.” She was caring, compassionate, fun, and just an overall sweet person. She took extra time to work with B on pill swallowing (although it didn’t quite work… they laughed while doing it.) Jenny was great with the kids.
While we stayed at the hospital our corner had three teens: B and two others. On Friday night she organized an Uno card game for the kids to get out of their rooms and socialize. Before the game, B had to do his daily walk with his halo and we all followed him playing music and cheering him on. All of the nurses in that unit were excellent and they all work great as a team, taking care of our kids.
The last two days before discharge, B kept asking, “Where’s Jenny?” We are sad we didn’t get to say goodbye, but we know she will be taking great care of other kids who need it. Thank you, Jenny and all of the other awesome doctors, nurses, techs… everyone at the hospital who made our stay as comfortable as possible and took excellent care of B so we could go home! Thank you, Jenny!
