My father, has been a patient at this facility since February 13th. He was brought to the emergency room for a severe myocardial infarction involving 3 coronary arteries and the placement of 4 stents. After his emergent surgery, he was transferred to the ICU where he remained their patient until February 23rd. During the very crucial time period of his post-operative recovery in the ICU he was cared for by many nurses, nurses' aids, respiratory therapists and physicians. One nursing provider was simply outstanding and exhibited the highest level of the three most important qualities a family and patient could expect from a nurse: communication, competence and collaborative care.

Jeremiah communicated with my family and my dad - the communication skills and ability to break down a patient's condition and treatment modalities are excellent, which clearly translates to a high-level understanding of the nursing care he was providing. Jeremiah was extremely competent. He made it look easy; he knew what and when to do everything necessary for a patient in very, very critical condition (on an Impella pump). He acted without hesitation or delay and was always spot on with what he felt needed to be done.

Jeremiah provided seamless, collaborative care with a wide range of providers including the Impella pump representative, nurses, respiratory therapists and my dad's numerous physicians. He knew what had to be done and who to contact to get it done. better yet, he knew how to express to the other providers his observations, analysis and opinions. A true professional.

 One final observation:  Jeremiah ’s "extra" effort and compassion. We were advised, not by this nurse but by his co-workers, that he had called the floor to check in on my dad on his off days, one of which was his 43rd birthday! This is over and above the call of duty. This level of care and compassion is the best kind of "extra" that a family or patient can hope for.
