Jeremy went above and beyond to find him a forever home, and before the patient left, they had a bond that will not be forgotten.
The 2025 Union Medical Center DAISY Award Honoree was recognized by several patients as well as by his teammates.

Jeremy Hockgeiger is a true example of a compassionate caregiver who is committed to his patients. His patients describe him as compassionate, caring, comforting, a voice of trust, and just one who wants to help them get better.

His laughter and positivity inspire his patients and teammates to be the best version of themselves!

One patient described Jeremy as one who makes life joyful- he listens and spends time with me and makes me feel important.

Another described him as the caregiver who just went above and beyond. "I was in the hospital for several days after my cancer treatment and was not interested in eating, but I was so weak and knew I needed something to give me the strength to push forward. Jeremy entered my room with many options, but the best by far was a homemade hospital milkshake- and by the way, he makes the best milkshakes."

His teammates describe him as gentle, dependable, one who is always there in a time of need, one who brings joy to the workplace, and one who is determined to find a way to help us and his patients live life to the fullest.

We once had a patient who spent an extended period with us at UMC. To be honest, the patient was not always kind to Jeremy, but he never gave up on him and worked hard to build a trusting relationship with him. He visited him daily, even when he was not his patient, to always remind him that he was there for him. Jeremy went above and beyond to find him a forever home, and before the patient left, they had a bond that will not be forgotten. Still to this day, Jeremy frequently calls to check on the patient and be sure he has what he needs!

His leader says, "One thing I love about Jeremy is he treats patients, visitors, and coworkers like they are all part of his family". He never talks to anyone as if they were a patient, but rather as a friend. He makes sure that everyone feels comfortable around him and can always be counted on to make you laugh, even on the toughest days.

Jeremy goes the extra mile to find resources for patients and families in need. One thing that stands out about him is that he never boasts about his work; in fact, he would rather not be recognized, as he feels he is just doing his job. Jeremy is proud to serve UMC, his patients, his coworkers, and his community, and we are proud to have him on our team.
