Having Jeremy on the 15th floor for the past year has had a very positive impact on not only the patients but the staff as well. Jeremy brings calm and a comfort to the Oncology unit. During rounds, patients are always beaming about his kindness and sincere concern for them. One patient said, "I love love Jeremy, he is so caring and so thoughtful, I never had a male nurse on this unit before and was nervous, but within 5 minutes he calmed my nerves and now I request him."

Jeremy is already looked upon as a leader on our unit; he is taking charge of the floor when needed and successfully precepted many of our new nurses. Jeremy is intuitive and is consistently trying to make suggestions to help the floor operate more smoothly. He has suggested during a shared governance meeting that we should keep each nurse's assignment in the same area to better round and care for them; an idea that is currently being trialed on the unit.

While being floated to the Clinical Decision Unit, Jeremy was assigned to a patient who has difficult pain management issues. The patient was admitted for sickle cell crisis and was experiencing exactly what Jeremy described as challenges for this patient. The patient was yelling and crying out loudly during the majority of the 7AM shift. Jeremy was quick to respond to the patient's needs and advocated for her pain management. He provided both clinical and subjective information to the covering physicians to support the need for immediate attention of her complaints of pain. Jeremy maintained a calm demeanor, assisted the patient in every way, and cared for the patient in a reassuring manner.
