A 13 year old patient was brought into the respiratory assessment area of AL Hada ED. The paediatric patient was seen and examined by the Paediatric Physician. The necessary tests were done, results were reviewed, and the patient was referred to the Paediatric Neurology on call. The patient was with the parents and informed of their plan of care. Mr. Jeric Banez was allocated to the main zone of the emergency department when the 13 year old patient in the respiratory assessment area became unresponsive with no palpable pulse and no spontaneous breathing. An overhead announcement was made to the team for a paediatric code blue and Mr. Jeric responded immediately to help with the code. CPR was commenced initially by the Paediatric Doctor and then continued by Mr. Jay Viola and Mr. Jeric Banez. Mr. Jeric together with Mr. Jay Viola followed the proper sequence for cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the American Heart Association which resulted in the patient regaining a palpable pulse with an organized rhythm and spontaneous breathing.
