It is an honor for me to nominate someone truly remarkable—someone who exemplifies compassion, courage, and integrity in every situation. She is no other than Mommy Sai Areglado, The Compassionate Champion.

From what I have seen, Mommy Sai is not only a highly skilled professional, but also a constant source of hope and kindness for every patient, family member, and colleague she encounters. Her dedication extends far beyond the duties of her role; it shines through in every action, every decision, and every comforting word.

During our one-month stay in the PICU, I lost count of how many times I witnessed situations where Mommy Sai demonstrated extraordinary compassion, courage, and integrity. It is as if she carries these qualities with her every time she comes to work. There is nothing fake about the care she gives—I could feel it deeply, especially in the way she cared for my baby.

I will never forget our first meeting. It was so comforting to know that someone like her would be taking care of my child. Her words were filled with hope, and on that day she gave me the strength I desperately needed. As we shared our life experiences, it felt like we both drew courage from each other. Each day was not easy, seeing my baby in such a critical situation, but nurses like Mommy Sai gave me the strength to keep going.

Every day I looked forward to her shifts. Even when I could not be inside, it felt like my baby had a “mommy” by his side. The way she spoke to him, the way she embraced him with such warmth—it strengthened both of us. I could see my baby grow stronger because of her care.

There were countless moments when she fought alongside us. I will never forget the time she stayed instead of going home, just to make sure my baby was safe during a critical period. We cried together in those moments, sharing the same hope for my baby’s healing. I remember when she said, “Mommy, I can sign the form for you so it can be done more quickly, for the baby.” At that moment, I wanted to hug her and thank her for being strong for us when I felt so weak.

Those moments remain etched in my heart. Because of her, along with the skilled doctors and nurses, my baby was given another chance at life. Mommy Sai played such a vital role in my baby’s recovery, and for that, I thank God every day.

In times when human endurance is tested, she has consistently demonstrated courage and empathy, comforting us in pain, providing strength when we felt vulnerable. She listens with patience, cares with tenderness, and acts with unwavering purpose. What sets her apart is not only her technical ability but her willingness to go above and beyond, to be fully present in every critical moment, providing both medical and emotional support.

I wholeheartedly believe that Mommy Sai deserves to be recognized with the DAISY Award. It is a perfect reflection of who she is and the profound impact she has made on our lives.
