There are no words to describe how and what you feel when you walk into ICU and see your son, barely recognizable, fighting for his life. Your heart hurts in a way that is scary. Everything changes. You are in a strange, scary place, unsure, confused. When we needed it the most, God sent us a guardian angel, Jerri Ann Day.
She was more than a nurse; her compassion and caring is immeasurable, her understanding and reassurance is a gift. She gave us strength and courage. She is the reason we are all home today. There are no words to describe just how thankful we are for her.
As a mother, I can't thank her enough for treating my son like her own loved one. For being there, answering our questions, holding our hands, giving a hug and being our foundation, our voice of reason...there are just no words. She is more than an ICU nurse. She gave me hope when there was none. She helped us make sense of it all. She made us smile and laugh. She did far more than take care of a patient in a bed; she helped heal a grieving, scared family.
Thank you, Jerri Ann, for all you do for our patients and their families!
