My friend, P, and her husband both became very ill with Covid. P’s husband was hospitalized. He has Alzheimer's and P is his sole caregiver. They have no family locally. P was very ill at home trying to take care of herself while her husband was hospitalized. It was determined her husband would be placed in a nursing facility.
Unfortunately, P not feeling well and not completely understanding circumstances was told her husband was going to be sent to a facility out of town. Her thoughts shifted from getting better to her spouse being transferred out of town to another facility. P would receive a daily phone call to be told her husband was being sent to another facility but uncertain where, and questioning of payment.
I spoke to Jesica Ford and asked her to please call P and explain to her the process better. Jesica happily called P, Jesica was very pleasant and calming on the phone. Jesica was able to calm P, reason with her to allow her husband to feel better, receive rehab, and come up with a plan to get her husband back home. This allowed P to regain her strength and feel better, a win-win for P and her husband.
P went from feeling like the hospital was just trying to get rid of her loved family member to feeling the hospital not only wanted the best for the patient but also what was best for both patient and caregiver. Jesica is a very caring liaison for the hospital. Jesica is knowledgeable, loving, and professional.
