Jes"She is the best IV starter I have ever had!" shared a frail patient with metastatic cancer.
"There is a gentle spirit in her eyes that made me feel all would be well," said another patient who was returning for surgery for a chronic condition.
Jess Charter's "servant's heart" is readily palpable whether she is caring for her patient and family, donating handmade floral decorations carefully crafted in flowers from her back yard to charitable fundraisers, or chairing our unit's social committee, which ensures that our team members get a card, warm meal, or other gifts in recognition for a job well done. She models our Standards of Behavior daily and is recognized regularly in handwritten letters from patients and in post discharge phone calls for her exceptional care, professionalism, advocacy, and compassion. She is described by her co-workers as our "go to" person for creative ideas for fundraisers; Jess herself actively supports our nursing scholarships, Backpack Buddies, Camp Happy Days, and the local chapter of the ASPCA. She is recognized by her peers and our physicians for coordinating unit celebrations during holidays and throughout the year.

Thank you, Jess, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
