She advocates for safe and fair staffing every day that she works. Jessa sticks up for our patients, too, always advocating for what's best for them, whether they know it or not.
Jessa joined our fast-paced floor and immediately understood how we do things here. In what seemed like no time at all, she accepted a position as charge nurse, a sometimes dreaded responsibility. She has been using that position to advocate for absolutely everyone ever since. Jessa sticks up for her nurses. When she's in charge, and things are slammed, she would rather take on a patient herself than assign them to a nurse who has four patients already. She gracefully does this more often than she should, just to keep the peace. She advocates for safe and fair staffing every day that she works. Jessa sticks up for our patients, too, always advocating for what's best for them, whether they know it or not. Every day, difficult conversations have to happen on our floor. Jessa does not shy away from them or expect the nursing staff to tackle difficult things by themselves. She supports her nurses when things get difficult. If a family member, a patient, a doctor, or a nurse needs a talking to, she is always willing and ready to engage in whatever way will be helpful to the situation. It's never about power or pride, she simply does what's best for everyone around her, every time. Jessa has also recently stepped up to fill our unit union representative role, which has sat empty for years. I could not be more thankful to have a union rep as informed and passionate as her. She's the perfect representation, and I know that she will fight for us in every instance and choose what's right for 5E every single day, and we are lucky enough to have her here.
