Jessamyn L. Milo, RN, has gone above and beyond to provide the patient with compassionate care and ensure his safe discharge back to the family. This is just the latest example of her going above and beyond to provide patients and families with clinical excellence, deep compassion, and care for their well-being. Jessamyn communicates with the utmost respect for all patients, employs professional behavior, and strongly advocates for "doing the right thing."
This patient, a 58-year-old male, was brought in by the police department after being found wandering lost in the neighborhood. He arrived in this country just 2 days ago and does not speak English. His situation was unique and required immediate attention. Jessamyn worked with the police with no success, contacted supervision, and involved charge RN and providers with no success. She persisted and ended up with multiple phone calls to Colonie PD; finally, she spoke with a sergeant who contacted Homeland Security and, through the patient's flight information into JFK, was able to locate a family member.
