It gives me great joy to nominate Jesse, as during my stay for back surgery I was treated by a person with the highest standard of professional nursing care. I realize Jesse was providing care for multiple patients; who like myself were experiencing the after effects of a trying surgery in the Orthopedics Unit. We were all uncomfortable and at times demanding. I challenged Jesse with "strong" requests for his attention to my desires and he could have explained that he would get to me as soon as he could, and sometimes he would; but more often he would interrupt his schedule for mine. When my circumstances dictated a delay over those more in need of his attention, his manner was patient and he would explain his need to prioritize my situation. If appropriate, he asked for "backup", and if my situation could accommodate delay he would return in time not with a question - but with results.

Jesse took the time to get to know both me and my wife who stayed with me through the length of my five day stay. He wasn't ever a "Chatty Kathy" but tended to make us feel relaxed and believe we had met a new friend. Jesse is personable and giving and I never felt that we were putting Jesse out or that he felt stressed by our needs. I know my wife is a particular blessing and has been my advocate during trying times, but Jesse came alongside of us and provided an encouragement to the degree that we did not expect.

Jesse gave also of his knowledge and skill, that although newly acquired, has been enriched as one of many years. My wife being a nurse from an earlier period was impressed with Jesse's knowledge and application. He thinks well on his feet!
