Jessica Allen 2023, MN, RNC-OB

Jessica Allen is the manager of Labor and Delivery. She came into this role in a very challenging time with staffing shortages and mid-COVID with burnout setting in. This did not stop Jessica from pushing the team forward. She learned our policies, procedures, and processes quickly. She set high goals for our unit. She encouraged the unit to challenge ourselves to build our skills and expand our knowledge even further. She was able to implement ACLS for our RNs to help support them with the increase of patients with heart disease and chronic illness while knowing this would also be a benefit to our patients and their safety. She has created a "challenge" for being certified and becoming experts in our field while acknowledging and shedding positive light on all nurses currently certified. She initiates discussions and actions around DEI that I have not witnessed from past leaders on our unit. She is a leader who says what she means, but also is a role model of her own words. I am incredibly thankful to learn from her and grow in my role alongside her.
