June 2021 Honoree
Jessica Brown, RN
Earlier this year, we had an infant death here at Winter Haven Women's Hospital. It doesn't happen to us often, but it does happen. This baby was born to a drug-abusing mother who (at the time) had seemingly little concern for the outcome of her baby's situation. Jessica attended this delivery, directed others in a code situation, and handled the aftermath like a true professional. She cared for this baby as if it was her own, treating him with respect and love. When family members came to the bedside she also treated them with love and respect, making sure they felt comfortable and that their needs were met. She held no judgment given the circumstances, offering them only kindness and empathy. I am so proud of Jessica and how she took care of both the baby and family that day!
Thank you, Jessica, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
