Jess is all of the things that make for a wonderful nurse, she is kind, caring, compassionate, respectful and makes her patients and families feel like they are the only ones on the unit.
Jessica has been a staff nurse at Mount Auburn for the past 16 1/2 years, she encompasses all of the characteristics of a DAISY Nurse and then some! She is all of the things that make for a wonderful nurse, she is kind, caring, compassionate, respectful and makes her patients and families feel like they are the only ones on the unit.

Jess is often the charge nurse on the postpartum unit, and does so with a smile on her face, she never complains about her busy assignment, on top of ensuring the unit runs smoothly, which is a difficult task! Jess collaborates tremendously with other units within the department (labor & delivery and the Level 2 nursery). Even on her busiest day, she often offers other units help, whether it is to take a patient from Labor and delivery to decompress their census, or going to help the Level 2 nursery with their other newborns, so the Level 2 staff can focus efforts to stabilize another neonate.

Jess is also the organizer of the "Sunshine Fund," which greatly boosts morale on the Postpartum unit! She brightens the day of all of her coworkers who need it with flowers, food, or a gift during the worst and best of times in their lives.

I have received many grateful patient stories, "Press Ganey" comments, and even staff "shout outs" that have positively named our Jess, but I would like to share the comments below that I received from a patient last week, which perfectly sums her up! "All the nurses that cared for me (OR + postpartum) were amazing. But I'd be remiss not to specifically call out one in particular - Jess. She was amazing. I just felt so well taken care of...so relaxed in her presence...heard and validated...she was funny and personable...honestly, she seems like someone I'd be friends with, and I bet she makes all her patients feel that way. A very natural, warm caretaker" I did not need to see which Jess had this patient, because she is the only Jess we have! This patients' comments made Jess's day when I shared them with her, she recalled exactly who the patient was, what room she was in, and all of the details around her hospital stay on postpartum.
