Jess is always such a positive influence on our unit, and she certainly made a difference for this patient.
Jessica was working with me on SAS. I had a patient that had been very anxious all day regarding having her surgery, having had so many bad experiences in hospitals before. The surgery before hers was taking much longer than expected, and she had been waiting in preop for hours.
As the evening wore on, she was getting more and more anxious, and starting to pace the unit. Jess asked her if she would like some music for her walk, and asked the patient what her favorite song was. The patient told her it was "Fancy Like," by Walker Hayes. Jess promptly found the song on her phone and told the patient to come for a walk with us. The patient started laughing, and dancing strolled on down the hallway and forgot for a few minutes how anxious she was. Shortly after, she was called to the OR and was laughing and smiling as she went back to her room. Jess is always such a positive influence on our unit, and she certainly made a difference for this patient.
