Jessica Caraballo is a hands-on, compassionate CNM and there are many stories that exemplify her ability to connect with the patients at Riverdale Dialysis. The one that means the most is how Jessica helped a patient make the best choice for their dialysis access. CVCs are a major focus at Riverdale, and one such patient was incredibly fearful of needles, and extra surgeries. Jessica took time out of her day every MWF to sit down for 10 minutes to connect and empathize with this individual. Even though the conversation extended a few weeks, this patient decided to move forward with AVF surgery. To some, that means her task was done, but Jessica ensured to give that personal touch point with this patient to the point of even cannulating him for the first couple of treatments until he was comfortable with the new dialysis access. Leaders who see opportunities in creating a special place, creating a culture, and taking a personal hands-on approach are what this Village is all about.
