There was a patient who had been admitted longer than expected. He began to experience depression. Jessica Carden was his case manager, mentor, friend, and therapist. These are the many hats she wears in her role. On this particular day, the patient and significant other came down the hallway. I thought he was discharging. He said, “I wish, but I’m going on a scavenger hunt. Jessica created it for me!” He had the biggest smile on his face.

Later, I went to the office, and I turned around, and there he was. “I found it!” Jessica had left a bag of his favorite candy outside her office door. She also created a map to help him get from the 6th floor to her office (don’t worry, the patient wasn’t alone). I was asking so many questions about the hunt that he interrupted me and said, “She’s taking me on a tour right now.” Lol. Jessica had spent time showing him the parking lot and different areas. You’d think he was at Six Flags from his response.

Jessica is an outstanding person. She is always willing to help anyone in need.
