Jessica D'Amico, RN

Jessica is a phenomenal nurse and charge nurse. She exemplifies what it truly means to be a nurse. She provides the utmost care to every single patient on her unit and always keeps them at ease. When they have questions, when they’re confused, and when they’re sad, you can always find Jessica by their bedside, helping to explain the situation to them and their families.

To her colleagues, she is an invaluable resource. If you need an IV, you can call her. If you need a situation to be explained, you can call her. If you just need a friend, someone to listen, or help getting through the day, Jessica is there. Every doctor that comes onto this unit respects her. They have come to rely on her efficiency, intelligence, and empathy to provide quality care to their patients. She is one of the main reasons our patients come back for surgery at Holy Cross. She deserves this Daisy Award more than any Nurse I know. I feel so lucky to know a nurse like this and to nominate her for such an award.

In addition to diffusing difficult situations, she shows true compassion and cares for her patients. She actively listens to feedback and tries to rectify the situation immediately, to the best of her ability. She is always ready to jump up to lend a hand. She is a truly wonderful nurse and one of the most caring human beings I’ve had the pleasure of working with. She’s a gem and a beautiful example of what nursing should always be. She consistently goes above and beyond to support all team members on her unit, especially in patient care.
