I could see it in my mom's face how she felt so at ease that Jessica would care for her.
I met Jessica while my mother was admitted. My mother has many comorbidities and was anxious to leave her in the hospital waiting to have surgery. On the first day she was admitted, Jessica was her nurse; she was sweet and very welcoming. On the third day of my mom's admission, Jessica was her nurse once again, I could see it in my mom's face how she felt so at ease that Jessica would care for her. She was endearing and would take her time to explain everything to my mom. I felt like she genuinely CARED.
This wasn't just another room number to her, she was very apologetic when her surgery got rescheduled. She made it a point to call me when my mom was out of surgery and would always attentively answer my questions when I would call. Furthermore, I felt confident to leave my mom in her care as I knew she was in good hands when I would come and go to work. When Jessica said, "I'm here for the next 3 days." I myself felt relieved. My mom even told me, "She's so caring."
My mom's cholecystectomy got rescheduled and the surgeon told her she could eat anything she wanted, but I had taken her purse home. Jessica told her, you can eat anything you want and my mom innocently told her that I had her purse. Jessica went above and beyond and brought her chips and a soft drink. To know someone cared this much, touched my heart. Anyone can be a nurse, anyone can obtain that license. But I truly believe that Jessica embodies empathy, compassion, care, and love for her patients.
