Jessica lights up the room when she walks in. Her positivity and passion for nursing are infectious and both her peers and patients can't help but be uplifted by her generous spirit. She is an exemplary nurse who strives to brighten the day of every patient for whom she cares. Dedicated to the profession, Jessica is a lifelong learner who takes the time not only to attend conferences and continuing education but to also share the knowledge with her peers. She is a role model and leader among her team serving on the unit's shared governance council as well as our Family Medicine Residency champion council. She volunteers her time at the local clinic for those without access to healthcare. Jessica is often found at her patient's bedside talking with them or their family about their critical care stay, what to expect, and how to best ease their fears and concerns. From the wife of our patient who nominated her: "Jessica went above and beyond what is expected of any nurse to ensure I was comfortable and felt safe leaving my husband to go home and rest. I was able to leave the hospital and care for myself for a bit knowing that she was there and would call immediately if anything changed. I knew she would care for him as if he were her own father and that comforted me and eased my anxiety about leaving him".
