With the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020-2021, it brought an Infection Preventionist nightmare to life. Jessica Felker was new to her role but worked extremely hard to keep up with all the CDC guidelines & Federal mandates regarding COVID. She was ready to answer all questions that were thrown at her and kept us up to date with all the changes.
We all knew how exhausting COVID was, and she had to put in a lot of extra hours every day and on weekends, but she never once complained. She is intelligent, thoughtful, caring, and thorough. She never showed any fear of the amount of work that went into the COVID season. She was always hard-working and helped with new competencies related to COVID. She was a “professional nose swabber” and helped with vaccines related to COVID. She is the COVID superhero!
Jessica has more than exceeded her responsibilities as she was contacted at all hours of the day, every day of the week, and always answered questions. She did this all while working her regular job as an employee health nurse and workman’s compensation liaison. She was still able to help me with New Employee Orientation and kept up on employee files, and whatever else she is responsible for that I have absolutely no idea about.
Jessica has arranged for many employees to be fit-tested, going to many departments and locations both in Athens and Etowah. She has administered many vaccines and provided education to staff, family members, and people in our community. She has also helped organize the COVID clinic for our employees and family members and always has a smile on her face no matter how early or late she has been here to serve us and the public.
