Jessica always comes into work with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. I’m grateful to be able to have her as my coworker and work with someone who is such an Extraordinary Nurse. Jessica deserves recognition for her hard work at Newark, especially after the past couple of nights working together. Jessica is an ICU nurse and has had many difficult admissions, but watching her take charge during one of our shifts together really stood out to me. Jessica already had a tough assignment with a patient who was vented and on an enormous number of drips. Then we get call to assess another patient on a different floor, Jessica, without fail goes over in an instant. She immediately took action and brought the patient over and took on the patient's care without hesitation. With her years of experience, she knew what was needed for the patient and we got them ready for intubation, a central line placement, multiple medication drips, and she even helped the provider cardiovert the patient. Jessica always handles situations like these with grace and puts the patient’s care first. With all the fast movement Jessica continued to talk with the patient and ask them how they were doing and if they were ok before they were sedated. Jessica is an Extraordinary Nurse for her resilient work ethic and compassion towards her patients. She, of all people, deserves this award to be congratulated for all their contributions to Newark's ICU’s high level of care.
