December 2021 Honoree
Jessica Hoy, RN
No one talks about the anxiety that goes along with Covid. When I had Covid a few months ago, I went to the ER because I was short of breath. When I was taken to the triage area, it was packed, and I mean packed, wall to wall patients with nowhere to sit. I had a panic attack because of being scared and of all of the people. I left the triage area and went outside in the rain. Jessica Hoy can outside and did a quick assessment and vital signs (remember it is raining). When a room became available, she helped me change my wet clothes into a dry gown. In my opinion, Jessica deserves to be recognized. She showed kindness and compassion while meeting my needs even though I was not within the walls of the hospital. Another reason this interaction is special to me is that she was not even my assigned nurse. She is a perfect example of what a nurse should strive to be.
Thank you, Jessica, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
