Jessica repositioned the woman on the bed, her water broke dousing Jessica with amniotic fluid and within a few pushes, she delivered a beautiful baby girl.
Recently while on vacation, Jessica was staying at a hotel and while she was standing at the elevator to go up to her room with her husband, she overheard a rookie police officer and the hotel staff discussing the fact that a woman was in active labor and EMS was 20 minutes away. Rather than getting on the elevator, she said what so many of us say “I’m a nurse, can I help?” She was taken to the young woman’s room by the hotel staff and the police officer (who has been on the force for all of two weeks!) She was given a pair of gloves and low and behold there was no way this young lady was waiting for EMS.

Jessica repositioned the woman on the bed, her water broke dousing Jessica with amniotic fluid and within a few pushes, she delivered a beautiful baby girl. The mother was exhausted so Jessica held the baby, wrapping her up to keep her warm while waiting for EMS. The placenta had not been delivered. Jessica has two beautiful children and she knows how fragile childbirth can be and how quickly both the mom and baby can experience serious complications. Knowing this from personal experience did not stop her from stepping up to do the right thing for someone in need. The mother even named her baby after Jessica's daughter! Although this did not happen at PMC, this experience speaks to her level of integrity, her compassion, and her willingness to provide kind supportive care to another person in need. She is an asset to PMC!
